December 2019

December

Well, December was a very busy month indeed, the children enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities including acting, singing, dancing and supporting a wonderful local charity, Barnsley Hospice.

Barnsley Hospice

A group of children went to Barnsley Hospice where they sung various traditional carols and chatted to patients. The children brought smiles to so many faces.

Christmas Fayre

This year we invited various creative craft sellers and the toy store ‘The Entertainer’, to come along to our Christmas Fayre. In addition to this, the children enjoyed visits to Santa, taking part in face painting, guess the name of the teddy, tombola’s, raffles and much more. The Christmas Café was a huge success, where tasty treats were in abundance. A huge £1000 was raised! Please can we take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your continued support.

Christingle

Y3 led our Christingle service. Parents attended this wonderful event where prayers were read aloud and hymns were sung. It is always so lovely to see so many families in our school supporting the children.

Nativities

Both Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 held their very own nativities, and I am sure you will agree they were adorable. Such fantastic acting and singing was seen from each and every child. It was lovely to see so many parents, carers and relatives supporting the children who also enjoyed refreshments and a chat after each performance.

KS2 Carol Concert

Parents, carers and relatives were serenaded in an amazing afternoon of traditional Christmas Carols. Beautiful singing and also some speaking parts were delivered by Key Stage 2 pupils. It was lovely to see so many families here supporting your children.

Christmas Jumper day

Children and staff came to school wearing some rather fancy Christmas jumpers.

Pantomime visits

Both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 went along to the Pantomime at the Lamproom Theatre to see Mother Goose. This is something that the children and staff alike look forward to each year. There were plenty of giggles to be heard and also lots of audience participation “Oh no he isn’t!”. All children behaved extremely well and were a credit to our school.

Rudolph Run

All children throughout school took part in the Rudolph Run, to raise money for Barnsley Hospice. Children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 ran around the playground to raise their money and Key Stage 2 children went over to Locke Park. All children wore antlers and red noses – they looked fabulous! The total raised will be announced in February once all money is collected.

Christmas Parties

Each Key Stage held their own sparkling Christmas party. The children were invited to come in party clothes and they looked amazing. There was singing, dancing, games and a great deal of party food, so generously donated by all our wonderful families. The children all had a great time.

Whole School Mass

On the final day of school for the year the whole school attended Mass. Their behaviour was respectful and outstanding. What a lovely way to end a very busy term.

Happy New Year!

Keep your eyes peeled for January 2020……Coming soon!
