Welcome to the Year 3 class page. Our class teacher is Mr Newsome. Mrs Bywater covers the class on Thursday mornings. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Darnbrough.

Homework and spellings will be sent home every Friday. The spellings will be tested the following Friday and homework should be returned by Wednesday.

PE sessions will be on a Thursday and Friday. PE will be outdoors weather permitting, so please ensure that appropriate PE kit is in school. 

Children will be listened to read and also read to in school. They will be able to change their reading books on a regular basis.

Please make sure that you read daily at home. If you read four times a week and it is written in your personal organiser, you will get a raffle ticket to enter our reading raffle. We also have our 50 Recommended Reads for Year 3 and children are encouraged to see how many of the texts they can read during their time in Year 3. 

Our Reading Scrapbook will also be sent home each week to further share our love of reading in class. 

It would also be beneficial to practise your times tables on TTRS (Times Table Rockstars). Children also have access to 'Rollama' where children can practise different spelling rules and play games to help them develop their knowledge of punctuation and grammar.

Autumn 1

Year 3 have had such an exciting start to the year! In the pictures, you can see them starting to learn to play the recorder, taking part in fun sporting activities and exploring the fundamentals of a sentence in their PVPG unit!
