Year 4
Welcome to the Year 4 class page. Mr McInerney is the class teacher with Mrs Rose supporting each day. Miss Booker also teaches the class on Tuesdays.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned on a Thursday for marking. Spellings will also be given out on a Friday to practise for the following week, they will be stuck in planners but can be practised in homework books. Times Tables Rock Stars and Rollama will also be used to set homework tasks throughout the year. Children will be informed when this happens.
PE days are Wednesday and Thursday and will be outdoors weather permitting so please ensure that appropriate PE kit is in school. It is suggested that it is brought on Monday and taken home on Friday to allow for any last minute changes.
Each child will have a reading for pleasure book which can be selected from the class book shelf, the 50 recommended reads shelf or the school library. Reading books will be changed in class when needed and children will take ownership of this.
Please make sure you try to read daily at home! If you read four times a week and it is written in your Personal Organiser, you will get a raffle ticket to join our reading raffle!
Our Reading Scrapbook will also be sent home each week to further share our love of reading in class.
Autumn 2
Year 4 really enjoyed the second half of the autumn term. They have learnt so much!
In maths, they learnt all about perimeter and area and started to explore the multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. They even explored the relationships between adjacent multiples!
In Literacy, the class loved studying the book, Tar Beach. They had great fun creating their own play scripts and acting them out too!
In History, the children continued to explore the Ancient Greeks and by the end of the term, were experts on all things Greek mythology. They also enjoyed learning about the first Olympic Games.
We can't wait to see what the spring term will bring!
Autumn 1
