Geography is the subject which holds the key to our future.
We aim for all pupils to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. We seek to inspire curiosity about the world and its people to promote the pupils’ interest and understanding of diverse places and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Geography is taught through topics throughout the year. Teachers have identified through our long term plans the key knowledge that needs to be taught in each topic and consideration has been given to ensure progression across topics through each year group. At the beginning of each topic, children are taught the key vocabulary to ensure that they have a strong basis to learn from. Teachers think carefully about how pupils will be supported in order to achieve to the best of their ability. The local area is utilised to achieve desired outcomes, with opportunities for learning outside of the classroom.
