Summer Term 2022

Year 3 have been loving our Roman topic, 'Emperors and Empires' in the Summer term. We had so much fun when we went on our trip to DEVA Roman Discovery Centre!

During Maths, we have been looking at the properties of shape and made a variety of 3D shapes, as well as finding angles around the classroom!

Our book for Literacy has been Arthur and the Golden Rope and this has provided us with many exciting writing opportunities! We even created our own Norse Myth!

We have been testing out magnetic materials in Science and have recently been investigating reflective materials during our new topic, 'Light'.

In Music, we had the opportunity to perform some of the songs we have been practising in front of Key Stage 2 in preparation for our ukulele performance at the Metrodome!

Spring Term 2022

Year 3 have made huge strides in their learning this half term. They have been thoroughly engaged with our topic ‘Rocks, Relics and Rumbles.’

Our Arithmetic Avenger well is looking busier than ever with many new recruits this half term! We have been focusing on measurement in maths, looking at length and perimeter.

We have been conducting ‘contraction surgery’ during Literacy to help develop our understanding of how to use apostrophes for contraction!

During Science, we have conducted experiments to test out the durability of different rocks and also how malleable they are.

Our skills with the ukuleles are continuing to develop during music lessons with Mr Fuller and have played many classic songs!

Let’s make the next half term even better than the last.

Autumn 2 - 2021

It has been another fun-filled, productive half term in Year 3. The children have continued to develop their musical skills with their ukuleles and have learnt many new chords.

It has been brilliant to see so many children become ‘Arithmetic Avengers’ by engaging with Times Table Rock Stars and learning their times tables!

We revisited different word classes in Literacy and this helped us to create our own narrative in which there have been some extremely creative ideas!

The children also worked really hard to practice their Christingle and the readers were so clear and fluent.

Keep it up Year 3!

Autumn 1 - 2021

It has been brilliant to see all of the new Year 3 children settling in so well to their new surroundings. They have all shown so much enthusiasm when discussing our new topic ‘Through the Ages’ and have been keen to contribute! We have started learning about place value in Maths and they have all made a superb start. I can’t wait for what the year will bring!
