Summer Term 2 - 2021
The first part of Summer Term has seen the introduction of our brand new topic, ‘Alchemy Island’. Class Five have explored the map of the island, learning about four and six figure grid referencing as well as human and physical features of maps. They’ve also created their own soundtracks to the island portal and have performed these in front of the class!
They’ve worked incredibly hard in all areas of the curriculum and have learn so much! Maths has seen the start of the ‘Properties of Shape’ unit as well as the ‘Angles’ unit and a fantastic afternoon of activities on National Numeracy Day! They’ve also really engaged with the class novel, ‘If You Find This’ and have written some excellent diaries and newspaper reports. What a fantastic start to the term!
Spring Term - 2021
It’s been lovely to see Class Five back in the classroom for the last few weeks of the Spring Term. We’ve managed to fill it with lots of fun!
A particular highlight was our Hepp DT project. We loved using saws and drills and designed and made some amazing mining lamps.
We’ll be sad to say goodbye to our coal mining topic but we can’t wait to start Alchemy Island after half term!
It has been lovely to welcome Year Five back to school this month and see the classroom full of enthusiastic children again. We’ve had a brilliant start so far and have enjoyed the start of our new topic, ‘Pharaohs’. The children have produced some excellent work and I can’t wait to see what they produce next.
Autumn Term 2 - 2020
Year Five have worked incredibly hard this half term. We’ve used the book, ‘Varmints’ to write some excellent narratives, diaries and persuasive speeches. In Maths, we’ve calculated area and perimeter, looked at reading line graphs and bar charts and worked hard to perfect our arithmetic skills!
We’ve also loved the second half of our Egyptians topic and learnt lots about the Afterlife. We’ll be sad to say goodbye to the Egyptians for now but our next topic will be just as exciting!
Autumn Term 1 - 2020
Year Five have loved learning about the Ancient Egyptians in their new topic, ‘Pharaohs’.
They’ve worked incredibly hard and can’t wait to continue this topic up to Christmas.
They’ve been working hard in all areas of the curriculum and have written some excellent, engaging narratives using the book, ‘The Adventures of Odysseus’.
