We have also been learning about school life in the Victorian era and we also went on an amazing school trip where we became Victorian Children for the day.

In science we have been learning about animals and we were lucky enough to have a travelling zoo visit us. In art we were learning about James Rizzi and creating our own art worked based on his ideas.

In Literacy we have been writing our own version of The Disgusting Sandwich and we are looking at writing descriptions and letters. We have worked really hard in phonics and completed our phonics screening check.

In maths we have been consolidating our knowledge of numbers to 100, learning about time and money.

Spring Term 2022

Spring term has been exciting for Year One. In literacy we have been writing poetry about the seasons. We have been using the story Paddington Bear to inspire us to write our own stories. We came up with some excellent ideas, including Paddington spilling marmalade all over the kitchen!

In maths we have been learning about place value within 50 and completing additions and subtractions within this.

In PE we have been working on our attacking and defending skills and began our unit on gymnastics. We also enjoyed our dance taster session with Active Fusion.

In topic we started a new topic called Bright Lights, Big City and we have been learning about the countries and capital cities in the UK. We also learned about different London Landmarks which we then drew in our art lessons.

We were very lucky to have an experience day with Hepp DT where we used saws, drills and lots of other materials to make our own London Bus.

In science we have completed many experiments to help us with our learning about everyday materials.

We have worked so hard and can't wait to continue our learning.
