Year 4

Welcome to the Year 4 class page. Our class teacher is Mr McInerney. Mrs Smith covers the class on Tuesday's and Mrs Bywater will teach the class on Thursday morning. Our teaching assistant is Miss Rowland, who is looking forward to working with the class for the second time!

Homework and spellings will be sent home every Friday. The spellings will be tested the following Friday and homework should be returned by Thursday.

Children will bring home two reading books, one for pleasure that they may choose themselves and another which will be chosen by Mr McInerney or Miss Rowland. Please make sure you read daily at home!  If you read four times a week and it is written in your personal organiser, you will get a raffle ticket to join our reading raffle.

PE sessions will be on Wednesday and Thursday.

Year Four will aim to master all of their times tables this year up to 12 x 12 and so regular practise using Times Table Rock Stars is encouraged. Please don't hesitate to speak to Mr McInerney if you or your child have any questions or worries about the MTC that children will sit at the end of the year.

Spring Term 2024

The Spring term has been short but action packed. Y4 have deepened their understanding of multiplication, fractions and money too! They’ve also really enjoyed studying the books, FArTHER and The Selfish Giant and have written some excellent diary entries and letters!

In March, we were fortunate to take part in the Active Fusion Festival of Sport and had a great time exploring lots of different activities including kin ball, rugby and seated volleyball!

Our Geography units have been really thought provoking as we learnt about the differences between Yorkshire and the Italian region, Campania!

Autumn Term 2023

What a brilliant autumn term! Y4 have learnt so much and have had a brilliant start to the year. We've really enjoyed our art units and produced some beautiful pieces of work.

We also really enjoyed studying electricity in science and had great fun using the circuit kits.

Our class novel, Varjak Paw gripped us from the first page and we can't wait to read the sequel later in the year.

The class have planned and delivered some insightful and reverent class worships so far this year and have really impressed with the missions that they have planned for each other.
