At Holy Rood, Religious Education is at the heart of all that we do. Guided by our school mission, ‘Love, Live, Learn’, we strive to help every child develop a deep understanding of the Catholic faith, grow in their relationship with God and recognise the importance of living out the teachings of Jesus in their everyday lives.
By engaging in RE lessons, children explore the teachings of the Bible, develop their understanding of the Catholic faith and learn about the beliefs and traditions of other world religions. We celebrate the rich diversity of our school community, recognising that the different cultures, languages and faith experiences our families bring enrich our understanding of one another and help us grow together.
We want every child to know that they are unique and valued and loved by God. We encourage them to ask questions, think deeply, reflect on their beliefs and develop the confidence to make thoughtful and compassionate choices. Through prayer, worship and visits to church, we nurture children's spiritual development and strengthen their sense of belonging to the wider Church community.
Most importantly, we believe that faith should be lived, not simply learnt. Inspired by the example of Jesus, we encourage our children to show kindness, compassion, forgiveness and respect and to put Catholic Social Teaching into action by caring for others and responding to the needs of our local and global communities.
At Holy Rood, we want our children to leave us with more than knowledge of the Catholic faith. We want them to carry its values into the world, treating everyone with dignity, embracing difference and making a positive contribution to society.
Together, we love one another, live as Jesus taught us and learn to become the people God calls us to be.
