Year 6

Welcome to our Class Six page!

Miss Pearce is the class teacher with Mrs Bell supporting each day. Mrs Woolley also teaches the class on Friday to cover Miss Pearce's management day.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned on a Thursday for marking. Spellings will also be given out on a Friday to practise for the following week. They will be stuck in planners but can be practised in homework books. Times Tables Rock Stars and Rollama will also be used to set homework tasks throughout the year.  Children will be informed when this happens.

PE days are Wednesday and Thursday and will be outdoors, weather permitting, so please ensure that appropriate PE kit is in school. Mr Ford from BFC Community Trust will teach PE on Wednesday and Mr Burgin from Active Fusion will teach PE on Thursday. It is suggested that PE kit is brought on Monday and taken home on Friday to allow for any last minute changes.

Each child will have a reading for pleasure book which can be selected from the class book shelf, the 50 recommended reads shelf or the school library. Reading books will be changed in class when needed and children will take ownership of this.

Please make sure you try to read daily at home!  If you read four times a week and it is written in your Personal Organiser, you will get a raffle ticket to join our reading raffle! Children will have many opportunities to read in school time and this will be noted in their Personal Organiser. Our Reading Scrapbook will also be sent home each week to further share our love of reading in class.

Year Six have had an amazing start to the year! They have all come back from Summer with a fantastic attitude - I know we will have a brilliant year!

In the first week of school, we explored our new Literacy text 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret' and enjoyed completing a scavenger hunt to find a mysterious key! Already, we have seen some wonderful writing from Year Six and we look forward to seeing more!
