Holy Rood School is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School in Barnsley, South Yorkshire in joint partnership with the Diocese of Hallam and Barnsley Local Authority. Holy Rood Catholic Primary School is an average-sized primary school. There are currently 210 full-time pupils; and 19 part time pupils. The majority of pupils are of White British heritage, although an increasing proportion is from minority ethnic groups. A large number of these pupils speak English as an additional language.

Holy Rood Catholic Primary School shares a seven-acre site with Shawlands Primary School. It has its own playground and MUGA and a separate outdoor area for EYFS. The building contains eight classrooms, a large hall for physical education, school meals and assemblies, an ICT suite, an Art and Science room, a small library area and a shared kitchen. The Nursery, which is part of the school, consists of a general-purpose room with wet area, carpeted area, cloakroom, toilets and outdoor playground. The school is fully accessible for disabled pupils and staff/parents.

We have very close links with Holy Rood Church and many of our children and families are involved in its liturgical and parish life.
